Hi all,
i have couple of cold water plants in my tank which has goldies and algea eater in it

i think only leaving the light on for 10-12 hours a day should promote their growth and also bought a clay ball which is for plants as suggested by the fish shop keeper. it first made my tank dirty and cloudy but looking at its instruction is is source of food for plants and will not harm fish and does not have co2 or ammonia/nitrite in it.

on the instructuion, it said that it will release the nutrition as much as needed by the plant and will absorb the rest again however having a look at the ball 2 hours later it looks like it is all been dissolved in the water thus making the water colour a bit dirty and ....

other question is , some time the plant leaves is bitten off by the goldies thus floting in the water and does not have any root. if i place that back with the rest of the plants will it grow and .. or is it dead and it starts to decay ? if they grow then i guess i could just cut some part of the leave and place it ealse where in the tank and it will grow again

sorry if this is a silly question and i believe the plants will not grow with out the root but just wanted to ask and confirm :)

I don't have much experience with cold water. I do know that goldfish will eat your plants.

It does also depend a lot on what the plant is. Simple pond weed may well do OK without messing with root tabs.
