Hi

Is there a cold water equivelent of the chinese algae eater, that could go into a pond during the summer. During the colder times of the year it could be taken out of the pond, and moved to the fish house.

Thanks

Plecos do well in outdoor ponds. Ours are in a fifteen foot goldfish pond. Even during the ice/snow storm we had in '96, (8 days...no power), the fish survived. A friend who raises and delivers fish all over the south told me they adapt just like the goldfish. I thought they would freeze to death! He said they wouldn't, but would just dig into the leaves and stuff on the bottom and sort of hybernate. We leave it that way until spring when we clean out all the debris.

I guess I should tell you we are in Alabama. Don't know if this helps. :)
