Where can i get my co2 refilled? Places like boc charge a fortune as they wont fill my bottle, i must use their ones...

It can be a pain sometimes, as the big companies won't do aquarium sized bottles....... have a word with either your local welding supplies(CO2 is used in tig and mig welding), or a fire extinguisher supplier.

Has anyone tried a Pub? CO2 is used on certain lagers to create that creamy head. Perhaps a tank could be swapped through them.

I'm not ready for CO2 yet but as I used to play Paintball at competition level (10 years ago) I have all my old 9oz and 20oz CO2 bottles. These use the standard soda siphon valve and refilling the bottles can be done at the local paintball site for a couple of quid per bottle. It's one line of enquiry that I will be pursuing when I'm ready for planted.

Unfortunately pubs use huge bottles and not the same kinds we have for our tanks, and they have an exchange system with their drinks suppliers. It is also not safe to attempt bottle to bottle filling. If you are looking to set-up a CO2 system, either ask the shop where you buy the system from if they will do an exchange service, or go with a disposable bottle system. I have disposable on my nano tanks and it is actually a good system, and not expensive. I do run a 2.2 litre refillable system on my main tank, but I am lucky enough to have a place to get it filled close by.

your local fire protection place will exchange them for a full one. very few will fill on site due to health and safety issues, its just not worth doing so there are limited numbers of places that fill on site. i pay £15 a pop for an exchange. have a ring around, someone local will do them.
