Hey guys,
Just got a Brillux 72l Plant tank with Powerfull t5 lighting system and am planning on planting it. I have always known about Co2 but never understood what it does and how to set it up and moniter it. WOuld anyone my posting some links of everything i need to used co2 in my tank?
Cheers chris

If you look in the PARC section there's lots of advice about Co2 and how to use it. Because of the size of you tank, you could use the Yeast method which is quite cheap. Alternatively, for more ease of control you could use FE CO2 (A Co2 Fire Extinguisher with a valve to let the right amount of Co2 into the tank). Basically plants need CO2 to produce energy through photosynthesis. In a fish tank the amount of Co2 that is actaully in the water is not enough if you are using high lighting which makes the plants photsynthesise more. Therefore you need to add Co2 to the water with a pressurised system and diffuser. All of the stuff that you need is contained in the articles in the PARC section but if you need more help then there's plenty of it around here!

Great links I get it more now!

Couldnt I use this with the Brillux: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200356983700?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Or is that too weak, and is there any other 70-80 litre tanks that might be better with less powerfull lighting.

Wont be enough. Especially that one because it only comes with one cannister. If you dont fancy getting pressurized CO2 then you could get lots of floating plants to decrease light intensity which would decrease the high demand for carbon. You could then get away with dosing Easycarbo

If I used two hagen systems would that be better? Thanks for the help... 2 canisters or even disable one of the t5 tubes and only use one?

I think the two t5s would be too much for the diy CO2 to handle.
It might work with one tube but then again youd be better off with Easycarbo.
Disabling one tube might cause the other to not work.
Btw, with the diy CO2 you will be changing the mixtures regularly. Say.. one on sunday and the other on a wednesday.
Pressurized CO2 with the two t5s would be smashing

Any links for what I'd need to buy? Thanks bud

Check out this link. The CO2 section will have links. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/298133-back-to-basics/

The price for pressurized is nasty maybe I could get 2 fluval pressurized kits ...

The initial cost might seem expensive but its a solid investment and the running costs are low. It will work out cheaper than the small pressurized units.

So you reckon I should go with the fire extinguisher? I'm getting there Haha

Yeah. Just follow the directions on the link.
ATK advised the fire extinguisher at the beginning of this thread ;)
