Hi,

I got fed up with replacing the plants in my tank so I purchased a Co2 diffuser under the advice of my local fish shop. I really don't understand how to use it though and when i googling it I just get results back about building your own one. I have it working in the tank in all but what I'm struggling to understand is how I know how much to use. The guy at the shop said 'just use what you need', and the instructions say the same...how do I know how much I need? is there a sign that I should be looking for that shows there too much or to little. Do I ever let the diffuser run out of Co2 or do I always keep it toped up :S. At the moment I just keep it above the half way line by adding a single pump a day. There appears to be a very slight bubble foam appearing at the top. What does this mean :S..

Any help is really appreciated

Thanks

How and what are you pumping through the diffuser ?

Im pumping Co2 through it, through an aerosol spray. I just push the spray, the Co2 then shoots through the pipping into the diffuser which slowly release it into the tank..

Never heard of the set up you are describing before.

Co2 needs to be running for quite a while each day. Mine is on for 6 hrs a day.

There is a lot more to it thought and is already well documented on this forum. I really would suggest reading through the section i linked above.

I've seen those in action, not my cuppa tea :\ No idea how good they are, wouldnt expect them to be much good in anything but a nano tank.

hi, I've heard of what your descrbing, what your doing is fine. You know If you need to add more. What I'd do is fill the diffuser and fill it again as soon as it empties.

sounds like a Tetra Omptimat. They aren't they best ways of distributing carbon dioxide around the tank. There is no way of controlling how much C02 is diffused. Leading to all kinds of different algae exacerbations. One of them being black brush algae, due to the C02 fluctuations.
