Hi all

some of you may remember back to when my bgkf was ill and i cared for him to what i thought him being ill by might of become apparent that it was just standard behaviour for bgkf. anyway

this morning i was down stairs watching the fish before i begin to try catch up on my paperwork ive came down and suddenley the bgkf is dead and the clown loaches are chomping on him :(

ive never seen any clown loaches be aggressive to other fish ive caught them chomping on another dead sucking loach the sucking loach was only small but mt bgkf was double the size of the clown loaches

ive read stories that clown loaches can become terretorial if left by themselves for a long period of time but ive always had 4 loaches

the only thing thats changed is that im treating for whitespot as one of the smaller clowns developed a couple of white spots but thats been treated and im gradually reducing the temperature down

so should i be worried or are the chances are that the bgkf died of whatever and the clowns just seen it as an early snack

(also ive only half dossed the tank with white spot treatment for scaless fish just extended the treatment plan)

Clowns will pick at dead fish though they have been known to attack and kill fish so it could be either. I know my 6 clowns lived with a ghost knife for 9 years with no problems(even sharing the same piece of drainpipe)any fish will take a disliking to another fish. I would say that it may have been the medication and the clowns picked at the dead body. How long have you had the knife as they can be pretty fragile for the first few months.
