For the past few days my water has become sort of milky/cloudy. its not too bad you can still see everything in the tank but it looks like the tank has got lightly frosted glass. Any ides what it could be and how to clear it?
Thanks!

Performing water changes and keeping the aquarium glass clean :)

Clean clean clean :) best way to keep a crystal clear aquarium :) mine seems to stay clear all of the time but I'm not sure if that's because A- I have no fish in yet and B- I do water changes. I think its both but the latter mainly.

You've been cycled quite a while, right FAF? It would be good to check stats since sometimes bacterial blooms can be associated with spikes. WD

yeah WD, i have been cycled for a good few months now.
Even after fish additions there has been virtually no change to the test readings, the last addition was 2 weeks ago (3 western rainbows) and still no change.
Due to not having space for a quarantine tank i had to deal with an ick infection, that has all cleared up now thankfully. I did a 20% water change yesterday (sat) as i always do and today the readings were the same 0 for both ammonia and nitrite. when i did the water change i cleaned one of the sponges in the old water but just shaking it around underwater. i guess the only other thing i might need to do is change the carbon pads.

I had a rare bit of cloudiness, with no stat changes, the other day too. In my case I pretty much assume that it was caused by a large bunch of different and odd types of plants that I brought home from the AGA conference and then tried to save, despite some of them getting really damaged in transit. I figured the excess debris from dying leaves was throwing things off balance. Water changes didn't help the cloudiness right away but after a couple days, things are crystal clear again. I still think good water changes right on through this sort of thing are important.
