I bought a double ex-display tank today,its 30 x 12 x 12,i have one filter up and running,has this will be transferred across when i move my breeding pygmys into one section,and the other section i want to use for growing fry until they need moving to bigger quarters...

Now i have an eheim aquaball,and was going to take mature media out of one of the external on the main tank to put in this one,will this mess the stats up on on the main tank?,i have 2 externals running on there.
I put the media in the externals when i stopped using the eheim due to snapping the spindle!

What is a "double ex-display?" Not heard of one of those.

The guideline when donating mature media from one of your working filters is to not donate more than 1/3 of the main biomedia, leaving 2/3 of the existing biomedia and replacing the empty space with fresh non-populated biomedia of the same type as what was taken out. This guideline still holds true when you're donating to yourself, same as if you gave it to someone else.

Interesting, the eheim aquaball had one of those white ceramic spindles? I assume you replaced the spindle?

I will order a spindle after easter for the eheim,but may use my aquaflow if i get impatient
