Hi all

I have 2 pettermint shrimps, 1 cleaner shrimp, 2 red hermits & 2 blue legged hermits in a 35 litre nano tank.

When i came to my tank this morning i was shocked to see that my cleaner shrimp had one of the blue legged hermits and was proceding to eat it, the crab was trying to fight it back but i couldnt get to the poor little thing before the shrimp had shredded it.

I feed my critters food morning and night and everything has been perfectly fine for a month that they have all been together, untill today.

I was expecting from what i have read that the red & blue hermits would fight which they havnt but i wasnt expecting the cleaner shrimp to be the one doing the killing. It was relentless !!!

Any one had any experience of this ?

Cheers

Hi Darren

The only thing I can think of was the hermit was on it's last legs and the cleaner shrimp was just taking advantage of an easy meal. You are sure that it wasn't just a molt?

Hey Seffie

It deff wasnt a molt as it was having a pitched battle with the cleaner shrimp, which it lost big time, as for it being on its last legs im not so sure ?

Oh well who knows, just one of them things.

This is very odd!

I've had mine for about a year now and he's never done anything like that.

Are you feeding him enough?
