i was just wondering if i could have more than one breed of dwarf cichlid in a 200 litre tank (1 m/ 2 f) or whether if an avid dwarf cichlid fan like myself would have to go with species specific tanks

Same question for different types of killifish

thanks

Yeah you could quite easily accommodate a few species of dwarf cichlids in a 200 liter tank. If you went for a species tank I would go for Apistogramma Panduro with 1 male and a big group of females due to the amazing female colours :)

oooo i was looking at borelli / hondurai (not sure spelling or aggassizi or bitaeniata depeding on availability

Yeah you could do a really nice group in there with 1 male and a hareem of females probably 4-5 females maybe 6 but then no more bottom dwellers.

Mix that with some nice tetras, headstanders, hatchet fish and maybe some nice L number plecs and I think it would be an amazing tank :D

are there any mid levels dwarf cichlids you know of? or are they are generically bottom dwellers?

thanks for the advice so far.
are you sayin one of each type?

Well its upto you either one big school or a few medium schools as a guide I would do

5 Apistogramma Panduro - 1M 4F
5 Spotted Headstanders
10 Ember Tetras (or similar - ie smaller tetras)
20 Lemon Tetras (or similar - ie larger tetras)
10 Silver Hatchetfish
2 L128 Blue Phantom Plecs (or similar)

You could add some festivums as they are the only real mid level cichlid for this size tank. All dwarfs are bottom dwellers as they cling to the edges and in little streams hiding in twigs and leaf litter.
