Last weekend I left on a 4 day mini get-away. All fish/inverts were fed by someone who stopped over. When I came home, my C.C. star had one of his arms missing, and it looks like it was torn/ripped off. Whether or not it was something in the tank, or a piece of LR fell on him, I'm just not sure. The question is: He is still healthy. Still eats very often (Frozen Krill, Silversides, and dried sea weed) and moves about the tank like always. Is there a good chance of him regenerating that arm, or will he be more than likely to succumb to a disease. I do not have a quarantine tank set up. I do check my tank multiple times a day to look for any signs of him getting sick. Has anyone had anything like this happen to any of their stars? I've had him for around 2 years now and was one of the first things in my tank, so he does have a sentimental meaning to me (Kinda weird I know!)... Any help would be great!

Thanks guys

Google the reproduction of star fish. You might have another one growing a new set of arms somewhere in your tank! :p

Starfish can shed a leg, which totally regrows back. The leg that was shedded grows a whole new starfish.

That would be cool, but I highly doubt it... I think wherever his arm is, it's in the belly of another animal... The only thing I could think that would of eaten it is my reef lobster...But he usually is peaceful.... Well I just hope he makes it...
