Hiya folks,

Anyone know of a cheap source of live plants. I need about 300 or so to fill my 5ft tank to prevent algae when I get going.

Greenline do a good selection for cheap however have been told there fish house selection might not prevent algae growth because not all are fast growing.

Peace,

Joel

ummmmm, 300 plants? i think it really depends on what kinds and lighting and stuff

what are your specs?

Very definitely greenline aquatic plants, very cheap and generally of good quality too. Try the collections (see linky) as they are even cheaper and you get a bit of everything. They do a super quality collection with over 200 plants for 26quid! BARGAIN!!!

Lighting will be over 4wpg (3 x 250w halides) and will be using cactus compost / pond compost mix as substrate. Pressurized Co2 injected into the tank and aiming for around 25 - 30ppm.

Having such high lighting is my main problem at the start of doing it because it will cause algae. So was told to fill 70% of the floor space using fast growing species.

I have bought everything and just awaiting for fish to be sold or moved so I can get started.
