Changing Tanks

hi im asking about changing tanks
First i shall tell you of my tanks... tank 1 gold fish tank with 3 ryukins(this is irrelevant)
tank 2 community tank
tank 3 tiger barb tank (Separated due to Tiger barb vs Neon tetra)
tank 4 new tank!!!!!

i am getting a new, larger community tank and am planning on using the old one to house the tiger barbs... as its bigger than their tank. what is the best way to handle the fish from one tank to the other?

obviously i need to cycle tank 4 before adding the fish from tank 2 but wat should i do with the water in tank 3... do i put it in tank 2 or just put the barbs in the existing water?

well if it was me id use the filter from the community tank in the new tank to cycle it.

either jus run it along side the new filter youve bought (if you have).

or even better would be to take the filter media out the old filter and put it (or some of it) in the new filter.

add water from that tank too so the shocks not too big for the fish.


then put the tiger barbs filter and water in there new tank so again its not to bigger shock for them either.

i had thought of that but would the filter from the smaller tank cope with the extra volume of water??
