hello all,

I have recently changed the substrate in my aquarium to different type of rocks. I have monitered the water perams closely and have had no problems with ammonia or nitrite spikes but the pH of the water is going so high that it is off the chart. The fish that i have in there are not acting strange or anything and look healthy. I have some large pieces of bogwood in the aquarium which i think is helping a bit.

Is this normal for a recent substrate change? and are there any recomendations on how to fix the problem?

thanks :)

If you added any type of coral sand then you might have some problems. It's designed for marine aquariums.

its a fine white kind of crushed pebble of some sort, im not sure exactly what. The pH of the water would probably be around 8 - 8.5. (I don't think this is too extreme, but that is only an estimate)

I have read in other posts that you may put java moss or something in the filter or something like that. I was wondering if this would be fine for my problem?

Thanks all for helping ;)
