Changed Tanks Am I Over Stocked

Recently I down sized my tank to a L39"x W18"x H22" 253 lts ( 56 Imp Gallons ) so I sold my Silver Bala sharks which I new wouldn't have enough room but, although the filter doesn't struggle keeping the water clean it can look very busy in there sometimes especially at feeding times.
So am I over stocked?
Here is the list of fish I have in there -

3 Angelfish
5 Silver Dollars
1 Bristle-nosed catfish
1 Flying Fox
3 Western Rainbowfish
1 Common pleco
2 Banded Rainbow
1 Spinney Peacock eel
2 Red Line Torpedo barbs
1 Golden algae eater
3 Parrot cichlids
1 Spotted Raphael Catfish

Hi yeah all of those fish get to at least 6 inches so yeah IMO pretty overstocked also some of those fish need to be kept in greater numbers and I would also call some of them questionable as to if they should be together also stuff like the common plec will outgrow your tank.

I think you need to seriously juggle your stock around to make this tank right. I think there are 2 ways you could go with this.

Idea 1 is.

3 Angelfish
5 Red Line Torpedo barbs
5 Western Rainbowfish or 5Banded Rainbow
1 Spinney Peacock eel
1 Bristle-nosed catfish
1 Flying Fox
1 Spotted Raphael

Idea 2 is.

3 Parrot cichlids
5 Silver Dollars or 5 Red Line Torpedo barbs
5 Western Rainbowfish or 5 Banded Rainbow
1 Spinney Peacock eel
1 Bristle-nosed catfish
1 Flying Fox
1 Spotted Raphael Catfish

You're WAY overstocked. In fact, you're about 330% stocked as you sit right now!

The common pleco alone needs a bigger tank (they reach 24", which means your fish won't have room to turn around once it reaches maturity).

With just the three angelfish in there, you're more than halfway stocked. Add just the 5 silver dollars and you're already overstocked.

You also have TONS of compatibility issues, not to mention incomplete schools.

The parrot cichlids will become VERY aggressive if they decide to breed, not only with each other, but with their tankmates as well.

Both your torpedo barbs and both species of rainbowfish need to be in schools of 5 or more to be happy.

Chinese (golden) algae eaters get to be 11" long and become VERY aggressive as they get older/bigger. They've been known to attach to the sides of tankmates and suck off their slime coat. They also stop eating algae when they reach about 6".

I'd be wary of the potential World War III that could erupt in your tank should two of your angels decide to pair off, and/or two of your parrots decide to pair off. Angels are cichlids and are VERY territorial when breeding.

I would SERIOUSLY rethink your stock. What size tank did you have them in? Honestly, to accommodate all your fish, you'd need a minimum 250 gallon tank, and even then you'd still have compatibility issues and incomplete schools.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions I thought I was overstocked but these were all the fish that came with my last tank when I won it on ebay which was a juwel 260 so I have only lost 7 lts now I have downsized and I was thinking of re-homing some of them anyway

I'm Not sure if it is running right as I not sure how powerful it should be coming out of the spray bar I tried looking for a video on you tube but there are none on there with this filter. At the moment I have a Fluval 4+ running along side of the external which I was going to take out once the bacteria had built up in the external and once I remove it then I will know if it is running sufficiently

Many Thanks rdp50734 I didn't see your post that you posted, they seem to fly off the new contents at a blink of an eye My one does seem to be spaying out approx 2" so it must be working fine

your old tank was was overstocked as well, it would seem.

There are two rules i live by:

In card games, if you ask 'Is it my turn?', then it probably is.
And in fishkeeping, if you ask 'Am i overstocked?' you probably are...
