So whats the deal here? I thought Chaeto had toxins in it that inverts didn't like to consume, but apparently my Turbo snails think otherwise. Two of them found my little clump and are munching away like pros. I've removed them from it for the time being, but will they have the audacity to finish off the whole clump?

All plants of every kind have toxins in them, but all plants of every kind are eaten by something. The ability to finish off the chaeto is entirely dependant on size.

Hmmm....maybe they developed a resistance or taste for it. Most macros, except for gracilarias, are not eaten. Chaeto has a rep for NOT being tasty. SH

Thats what I thought too, but there they are, munchin away... I'll try to get a pic the next time I catch one dining

IME prolifera and red grape caulphera are also readily eaten by fish and snails.
