I think I may have found a Chops proof thermometer, all the digital/led ones I have been looking at all have glass and I am so paranoid about him breaking them. This one is all plastic, does it look any good?

I did consider them, they are chops proof :good: , but unfortunately they are not 3 year old little boy proof

chops proof eh , hmmmm is there such a thing i wonder

The devil is getting a new tank (weather permitting) the weekend, because I am sick of him biting my fingers when I try and put the glass sliders back on after a wc. I tried wearing my leather bike gloves, but they are too thick for me to get the glass back in

i think that will be ok star
so looks like chops is going to get
is thremmommy thing to play with
he will be happy

mrs biffster just said throw him a
plastic ball in that should keep him
happy

My only concern really was how far out from the glass it sticks out, knowing that silly fish he will try and get it off I was worried about him getting stuck, but I am pretty sure he is now far to big and fat to get behind it

He did have a ball for a while a little plastic one that floated, he loved it, only trouble was we got sick of hearing it being pinged off the glass sliders :grr:

i should think you'll be
OK now star hes a lot bigger
now he might try beating up
like he likes to i wonder if
mrs biffster is right use a
plastic ball like a ping pong
ball or something like that to
distract him just an idea

A ping pong ball is too light, the plastic one he had before he could launch it out of the water a ping pong ball would be worse  I thought I found the perfect toy for him a koi ball, you fill it with food and koi chase it round the pond, only problem was they are too big really for a tank

hmmmmm maybe an idea, I keep thinking plastic because of him biting it, the monster pinched my sponge Monday night that I use to clean the glass, I stupidly left it on the brace bar while I got off the chair to check if I had missed anywhere, next thing I hear a big splash and the sponge was in the water. The tank was half empty at the time :hyper: he had jumped and got it off the brace bar!

Hehe perfect, then get him a little crash helmet and steering wheel, mini stig......

I had the little one you stick the cable inside which reads accurately the temp, my oscars never bothered with that, you could hide it anywhere in the tank,i wapped mine around the filter and had it behind, obviously you could read temp on the led...

My oscars used to play with a golf ball in the tank

Alternatively get an external heater you place somewhere along the outlet of your filter tubing. I'm a fan of these, despite never owning/using one. I can see how it would be better. Certainly makes the tank look less clustered with equipment.

What size tank you getting for Chops Lesley?

Thats so kind little monkey, however I think Chops would knock himself clean out with a golf ball

James, he is getting the same size tank 350l except his new one is a Jewel tank so I can lift the flaps and throw the food in quick without messing about with the glass sliders that are on the tank he is in now. Hopefully next year he will be getting a rio 400.

And for those who have not seen it in Chops's journal, I had a rummage in the kids toybox and found a bouncy ball, he had a great half hour chasing it round the tank today before I took it out again

His jaw seems to be finally straightening a little more, at least he has stopped the heavy panting he was doing last week
