If I use ceramic rings in my filter is it best to have them fully submerged or just have the water trickling over them ?

Thanks

I have an overhead filter, Aqua one

i used to have one a 620 i used to put the rings
right in the bottom of the filter and the filter pad over the to
just let the water cover them when there in a external filter there fully
submerged so i think full covered :good:

Thanks,
I`m doing away with the carbon element and replacing with extra ceramics, so if I ever need to cycle another filter, I`ll have a start
