Have a canister filter on a 20 gallon saltwater tank how often should the media be changed

What sort of media/ material is in the filter?

Normally you only replace sponges if/ when they start to fall apart.

Carbon isn't needed in tanks. If you want carbon in the filter, replace it every 2 weeks.
