Dropsy, bloated, pinecone, fungus and all of the disease. please give me the name so i can order it all on ebay. @Retired Viking

Don't buy medications unless you need them. Most go off very quickly, especially if they are kept in warm or humid conditions.

There's no cure for dropsy.
Pine coning is where the scales stick out sideways and is normally associated with dropsy. Again no cure.

-------------
Fungus affects damaged tissue and can be treated with rock salt, sea salt, or swimming pool salt. Use 2 heaped tablespoons of salt per 20 litres of water and keep the salt in the tank for 2 weeks.

-------------
External protozoan infections like Costia, Chilodonella & Trichodina, normally occur in dirty tanks. Doing big regular water changes, gravel cleaning the substrate, cleaning the filter regularly, and not overcrowding a tank, will prevent most external protozoan infections from occurring. In the event they do occur, you can treat most of them with salt (2 heaped tablespoons per 20 litres). Keep the salt in the water for 2-4 weeks, then stop using it.

White spot and Velvet are also external protozoans but can handle the salt. The best treatment for these is raising the water temperature to 30C and keeping it there for 2 weeks. Then reduce the temperature to whatever it normally is.

-------------
External bacterial infections are normally introduced with new fish. Sometimes you can treat minor infections with salt (same dose as above). Other times you need a broad spectrum fish medication that contains Methylene Blue, Formalin/ Formaldehyde, and maybe Acriflavine.

If that doesn't work then you might need anti-biotics. However, anti-biotics should only be used as a last resort on known bacterial infections that have not responded to normal fish medications. Improper use and mis-use of anti-biotics has lead to drug resistant bacteria that are killing people, animals, birds, fish and reptiles.

-------------
Quarantining all new fish for 4 weeks will prevent these diseases/ problems from getting into the main display tanks.

@Colin_T can you tell me more about formalin How many drop per gallons just incase.

As many of us have told you, the fish is suffering and needs to be euthanized.
i took these quotes from @Byron ’s signature

I notice a troubling trend in modern aquarium keepers, where the measure of welfare seems to be steeped solely in terms of survival: if the fishes live, things are good, if the fishes die, things are bad. It is an inappropriate position to take. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

It is inhumane to deprive any animal of an element it regards as critical to its well-being, and totally naive to expect normal behavior in its absence. [Dr. Paul Loiselle]

Most fish diseases are caused by poor water conditions and keeping the fish in unsuitable tanks. If you keep the fish in an appropriate tank which is well maintained, you shouldn't need medications.
Using a quarantine tank for all new purchases will prevent an infection entering the tank from the fish store.

Hi Barry,

Are you using Formalin to treat white spot or gill/skin flukes?
High concentration of Formalin is very toxic and must be handled with care.

It's better to follow the manufacturer instruction unless you know the Formalin concentration level.
You can use the product below which contains Formalin + Malachite Green.
It's very effective against White Spot and probably also Flukes.
