Can I Use Styrofoam?

Can I use styrofoam to make some aquarium hides? I want to make a custom Spirited away theme for my rope fish and he could hide in the house I sculpt. I was thinking about glueing some rocks to the bottom so it would sink and paint with acrylic? I don't want to cement it. Will it work with out?

Yes it will. Many people make 3d backgrounds out of styrofoam,

I have 2 lots of 3D backgrounds made from it, you are right to weight it down though as you already know it does float, it takes some holding down as well.

Investigating the 3D background theme, as I'm considering it for my new tank.
Acrylic is water based so I'd be wary of using that. Not sure what would be more appropriate though?
