Now would this work??

If I ran my grandsons filter in the corner of my tank for a few weeks would this build up the good bacteria so he wouldnt have to fishless cycle?

Its just a thought? I cant see any reason why it wouldnt work can you?

I am currently growing on a load of baby mollies and guppies so he has some fish to start with.

Also would it help if I placed some of the substrata in my tank during this time.

My tank is pretty big and running an additional intank filter wont be a problem as I have plenty of space and hidy holes for it to go in.

Thanks for any suggestions

Oh and the reason I want to do this is he is only 2 1/2 and just wont understand the whole concept of "empty" fish tanks.

hi wanda,
its what im doing for my daughters tank,im also growing on platy and guppy for her.
my daughter cant wait to long either. :) .

Absolutely ! :good: If you add some of your own media to his little filter it will cycle super quick (running in your tank). If you don't add any media, I'd give it two weeks just to be safe :)

Ohh thats great news :D :D :D
They have just moved house and to help him settle in he is going to have some fish "that have moved house too"

And before anyone worries the tank is going to be toddler proofed with mummy doing all the feeding and Grandma and grandad doing the maintenece :D :D :D

Grandkids are fun.....more fun than the teenager we still have living at home

yup it's called cloning isn't it?

good luck with the tank, hope your grandson loves it :D
