I am considering growing a riccia carpet, but i don't use CO2
Will it still work? Has anyone done this before?
If it grows slowly i don't mind

Whenever I've tried Riccia I've found that it doesn't do well without CO[sub]2[/sub], Java Moss would probably be a better substitute.

Okay thanks :)
I'm going to use wire mesh to hold it down, but does it need substrate underneath or will gravel be okay?

My rica grows fine in a small 60L with a 15w jewl day bulb, Infact it planted about two weeks ago and it need a trim now. I can take a pic if you like when i charge the camera?

Sorry but I have Riccia growing amazingly in a tank thats about as low tech as low tech gets, it looks better than moss, grows much much faster than moss and you can't really fail with it as long as you trim it and any trimmings you can just let float on the surface which will soon multiply and give you more for a huge carpet. :)

You can see it in my avatar growing in the front right corner.

I understand ya fella, just weird is all, I doubled my hand full I bought by throwing it in a bucket and sticking it on the windowsill for a week.
