I have a large tank with rosy barbs in it, and my mom has a tiny tank with some velvet wag swords, and the swords had some babies. They fit in there now, but they will end up outgrowing the tank and I don't know if these two types of fish can peacefully coexist or if the barbs will bully the swords. Can I transfer them into my tank? Or should we find another home for them?

what size is your tank and is there any other fish besides the barbs?

There's 2 clown loaches and a few barbs. It's a 10 gallon. It's not exactly a large tank, and I don't want to overpopulate it... I don't think adding a couple more fish would overpopulate it though. The lady at the fish store said barbs don't get along with other fish sometimes though, depending on the fish.

the clowns will need rehoming as they grow to 12" and need to be in groups, is it just rosy barbs, how many? although i think swords require minimum of 15 gal, but im not sure on that

A 10 gallon tank is too small for swordtails. And too small for clown loaches. And too small for rosy barbs. It could just serve as a grow-out tank for swordtail fry, assuming that you can sell them before they reach adult size. But none of the other fish should have to live in there.

Swords will "fit" into a 10 gallon, but the swimming room is the reason they don't belong. They are pretty active swimmers. I'd say a 20 gallon long would be minimum. Plan to upgrade. It's fun and addicting.
