I was wondering if I could add bamboo to my tank and if I can what should I do to make it safe for my tank

Bamboo grown in the garden is safe once it has dried out. However, it needs to be soaked for a while to get it to sink.

Do not use bamboo that has been varnished or painted with lacquers.

How long should it take for fresh bamboo to dry out

It depends on how hot and dry it is, and how thick the bamboo is.

In Australia during summer, bamboo that is a couple of inches in diameter will dry out in a couple of weeks. In winter it takes months. In colder climates it will take longer.
