I've had a look on amazon, but I didn't find anything really convincing.

Anyone can recommend a good book, with in-depth information and possibly some good info on breeding?
Something substantial, that I won't go through in less than a couple of hours...

there are numerous books available but without reading them all its hard to say whats good and whats not. i try to get a book on every species i keep just for a quick reference and to read as much as possible about the type of fish, i dont know why i just do......

most books are quite old and need updating.i have books with great articles in them that go on about undergravel filtration..... i dont think any fish books are a good read that will last hours and hours tbh but they can give you some tips and hints etc.

what cichlid are you interested with reading up on?

the aqualog books can be usefull for species reference and identification and some of the aqualog extras have good detailed info in them but these are quite pricey unless sourced 2nd hand on ebay or amazon. most books are very general and cover lots of species but not in depth, some are very general and use a handfull of species as examples and some books are aimed at a certain species.

what is it your after?

as minnnt said the net is really the best place to look as you will pretty much find everything you need on it with a good search. do you not have a smart phone?

Yeah... I was evaluating the books on amazon through the readers reviews, and it's those that made the books unconvincing.

Maybe that is the way to go... I am interested in some species in particular, but I also wanted to learn about others...

Yeah... That's another issue I found annoying... All books are very pre-2k

Angels (all of them), discus, keyholes and rams, but as I said I want to learn about other species too. I might like severums, but I don't know much about them.

Mmmm... I realise I might be after having my cake and eating it... I'll have to rethink what I'm after...

Yes, I have two smartphones (italian and English number), an ipad, a laptop and an iMac. Thing is I work in IT and... Well... A book makes a nice change, let's put it that way...

A worthy reason for a book I reckon then, haha.

A book is just one persons perspective on each fish, the net has many reviews from experts and hobbyists alike. Not many questions posted here go unanswered.
