I got this shrimp today, was buying some more orange ones & saw this one in the tank.
The owner of the Lfs wasn't sure what species it was so chucked it in for free.
Does anyone know what it is?
It's almost black with a lighter stripe down it's back, but in some light it looks blue
Sorry for the rubbish pics

Really hard to see the pics on a phone, but could it be a black tiger?

I haven't got a camera, only my phone or iPad, but I'll try & get a better one in good daylight tomorrow.
I'll look up black tigers, thank you.
It is shiny black on top, with some pale stripes towards it's tail & one down it's back.
When the lights hit it right it does definitely have a blue sheen to it's underside.
It's very active too

Talking with the owner of the Lfs, she said it must've come in with the orange cherry shrimp, so maybe it could be a black cherry one that sneaked in.
Shame they only had one, as it's a nice addition to my shrimpy tank.
If it is a black cherry will it breed with the orange ones?

Now I can see it on my pc, it does look like a black cherry. Any of the cherry colour morphs can and will interbreed. Probably best to separate it.

If your orange ones are cherrys, then yes........ but from your pics, the orange ones look more like caridina cf. propinqua in body shape

I really have no clue what I've got have I? lol
The orange were sold to me as orange cherries, but the Lfs got them from someone who just brought them in wanting to get rid.
Tbh my Lfs is great when it comes to fish, but don't know much about shrimp..
I can't move the black one as my other main tanks have red cherries in it, & my other tanks have Bettas in them & they'd munch him.

Just googled & the orange ones do look very like caridinas

Hope they turn out to be cherries. It's actually a bit more complicated to breed caridina cf. propinqua. I like all shrimps anyway :D

I've seen some of the orange ones berried, but no babies yet.
I'm a fan of shrimp now too

If the eggs are of the same size of cherry eggs then they are quite likely to be orange cherries. Good luck :D

I'll be sure to post pics if I get any babies.
Thanks all for your help in identifying
