It is growing in one of our water troughs on the farm, and I was wondering whether I may be able to give some a good rinse and use in my tank?

It looks like some kind of moss.

Thanks

As in elodea to the left of your fabulous tank set up? No it's much smaller.

I was wondering whether it is like a fresh water moss as when I googled it looked like that, but if so can I use in my aquarium?

I have just looked again at the image, and the plant is very small, I should have put my finger there to see how tiny it is, it's like java moss :/

Here is the other photo I took, not sure if its any clearer :/

you can use it in your tank and i agree its a type of elodea

might be willow moss? or another type, theres loads out there which arint on the market

Its growing rather prolifically on the stone wall of the trough, I wonder if I could attach it to something that I could use it as a backing in my aquarium? I hope it won't shoot roots down like the elodea does in my tank, seems to take so much maintenance.

it looks alot like my willow moss, it wont root in a tank if it is

Looks like Elodea Crispa to me, especially if it's cold water.

Looks very much like willow moss to me, try it in your tank, may not last too long though if the temp is too high.
