In my opinion, that's a waste of a pond. And the poor little fish in there is sitting bricks while it waits to be eaten by the dovii.

A pond like that could make money for the owner. Have a group of rainbows and a couple of dwarf cichlids in the bottom and 6 months later you sell the young and aren't quite rich but you can afford some food :)

I was thinking the small fish were food lol

Though im wondering if this was a case of an owner getting a fish that grew bigger than they thought and just improvised a bigger home for it.

I think the aquarium up top for the fish to go check out is really neat. Like a skylight for the fish.
