At last i now have a chance top add a overflow to my tank, i'll be moving next week and my lfs dude has agreed to come sort it out. But i've heard some tanks with overflow box's and they sound terrible. I really wanna set it up so it runs dead quite. I was thinking maybe like 150mm wide and then take it half way down my tank, and maybe putting some bio-balls in there? well i dont really no yet.

any ideas?

These CPR overflows are dead quiet, and if you purchase the aqualifter with it, you should never experience a siphon loss.

I have used three different types over the years, and this on is by miles away the best there is.

No GL i'm not getting a overflow box like that, i'm planning on getting my tank cut and siliconing a box onto it. But thanx :D

If you're prepared to have the tank altered and want a silent (not to mention safe) system then I would recommend drilling the tank. Then you can put a durso standpipe on it and it will run so silent you'll not even know it's there.

Otherwise, if the overflow is large enough on the outside, you can construct a smaller version of a durso over the drain hole down to the sump.

I've heard about these durso things, but never quite grasped the concept :S I cant get the tank drilled, only cut, as drilling would require major work and the guy from me lfs is actually gonna come round to my house to cut my tank, this helps a hell of a lot! as i'm sure you know how heavy tanks are!

But i obervioulsy can get the box on the outside made anyway i want and drilled, so what ever is best I want! I wanna make the box up and have it ready and dry before i cut the tank.
