This is hard to explain (tried taking pic, but it doesn't come out).

my male guppy has like bubbles on his fin and tail. When I say bubbles I don't mean attached. It's like his tail has been growing like that or something. Its like the bubbles are inside. I guess like a spot. It's really hard to describe and I've not seen anything like it before.

None of the fish are 'flicking'.

I did have a gourami die a few weeks back (of an infected injury - at the time treated water with melafix, then an anti-bacterial med).

Water params:

nitrite 0
ammonia 0
nitrates approx 10ppm
pH 7.2

I have 2 other male guppies and they don't have any signs of these bubbles.

The guppy in question is eating and swimming well.

Thanks tokis as i wasn't to sure, you don't hear of it much.

oh my god. Well there aren't any pictures (thanks for the links btw). I did only skim as I'm tired and need some sleep. Only one of the articles mentioned it being in the tail and fins. The other say around the eyes and on the body.

hmmm.

So the cause I suppose would be the filter?

it's wierd how it seems to have happened over night, or at most a couple of nights. I haven't touched the filter in 2 weeks. None of the other fish are affected.

I'm also running a CO2 (nutrafin) unit.

No airstones.

So really it can only be the filter. I've got a fluval 104 (external).

It also says the condition is irreversable. What does that mean? that he'll stay looking like that? or die? I have taken the filter apart and re-started it. I dont know what else I can do really.

I've been looking on google images and there are some pics of fish with gas bubble disease.

I notice you ask if the bubbles are transparent...

no they are not. They are the same colour as the fin. All the ones in the pictures are transparent. Is it still gass bubble disease?
