Never had this happen before.
I've dosed dry iron chelate before and it turns the water temporarily brownish in color, but this is something completely different.

Did a water change in my tank yesterday. Dosed as I usually do but w/ iron (only do it once a week). Wake up this morning to extremely cloudy water and a bunch of brown loose dust on the floating plants.
I thought it might be some freak brown algae or something until I shook the plants and all of the brown dust came off and colored the water even more.

Guessing it might be from the iron? But if it is, why didn't it dissolve properly?
Is this harmful to my fish? They seem to be acting normal. Checked water perims and those are all normal as well.

I also added
Plantex csm+b
pmdd pre-mix
potassium nitrate
mono potassium phosphate

All of it purchased from this place http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/index.html

Oh and I only added about a little less than a teaspoon of iron to my 125g. I don't think I overdosed it so yeah, not sure why this happened.

2 photos of the tank

First is a full tank shot. Keep in mind that this is after a 50% water change today. It actually made the water look worse. Not as much of the brown dust stuff though.
And also the flash makes it look A LOT better than it is. You can barely see the fish when you look at the tank.

Photo of the floating plants a little bit of the brown stuff on them. It's NOT brown algae. I know what that looks like and this is not it.
Also to the left, you can see just how murky the water really is.

And ideas at all on what could've caused this would be nice.

Thought it was b/c of the iron, but pfft, who knows.

wow, that is bad! I have never seen it that bad before.

has it cleared at all after the water change?

Nope. Although there isn't as much of the brown "dust" stuff on the plants, the water murkiness actually got worse after the water change today.
I think with a few more water changes it will start to clear up, but I'm still wondering what the heck happened.
It's not filter gunk b/c I cleaned the filter just last month... at least I don't think it's the filter. It doesn't look like the usual gunkiness that comes out of the filter when I do clean it.
*shrugs*
