Hi Guys

My tank seems to have went down hill a little

all was going ok then i decided to add an extra light and start adding tropica plant nutrition (once a week)

Iv now got very bad looking Amazon Swords , now apart from nutrafin grow sticks under the sand and tropica plant nutrition i don't use anything else , i have ruffly 1.5 wpg

Here's what plants i have

Amazon Swords
Wisteria
Brazilian Pennywort
Hygrophila polysperma

iv noticed on the Hygrophila polysperma that the leaves are getting a bit pin holed as well ..

instead of going down the co2 route do you think adding some seachem excel would help things out a bit ??

i did notice that the black algae on the swords got worse since i removed a huge load of wisteria

unfortunately i don't have a gh or kh kit so cant give you those readings

the rest are all zero with nitrates always hovering about 8 (0 in tap water)

here's some pics

what would be your first thing to do to get the tank back looking nice, bear in mind I'm not for adding anymore light or c02 just yet.

cheers

Kev

Cut off the algae covered leaves from the base of the stem. Large leaved, slow growing plants seem prone to algae and the easiest control method is simply removing leaves once they get too bad. The plant will not be damaged unless you remove all of its leaves!
