Hi Guys

in my eagerness to setup my CO2 FE, whilst tightening the solenoid and neddle valve to the regulator i have now broken the thread in the regulator groove! absolutely GUTTED!  ( it was second hand, so ... just trying to make myself feel better!)

im assuming thats £30 down the drain? does anyone have any tips on how to remove the broken thread or its back to ebay to buy another reg?

Still not sure which one is suitable as the one i bought was a d-d one

No its completely snapped off inside the grooves. the bolt basically is sheared off

then it's time for a new Reg.

ps you must have some strength!

i thought as much... not a happy bunny at the mo!

thanks ianho...

to be a pain, still not coming to grips with with reg i need to be looking for on ebay... dont wanna spend more money and buy the wrong type... anyone willing to post a link... (lol not being lazy, just a bit weary after my comedy of errors)

you after a solenoid and reg or just the reg?

Just the reg- i still have the needle valve from the d-d set and a (damaged) solenoid which im guessing i can get replacement for the sheared bolt...

so just the reg

thanks again ianho

You could give Richard a ring from Aqua Essentials and he's really helpful. These are good regs though.

From what I have read you snapped something off inside the regulators outlet. If so can't you just use a bolt extractor to get it out? I know its easier said then done. I've watched my dad remove some bolts I have snapped off before in an engine block. Only difference here is that you have basically a hollow bolt(if I am following this right). You need to drill the center of the bolt then put a bolt extractor in it. These extractors are extremely hard and tend to be quite brittle so be careful with them. You should be able to get it out though without damaging the reg.

There is an aqua medic reg for sale in the classified section Zim, i nearly bought it. Check it out nice piece of kit.

To fix what you have you'd need a tap to take out the old thread - It would probably cost you more than a new Reg tho.
If you're in the UK, get that last TMC from AquaEssentials :good:
