Broken Filter :(

Hey

I have a problem, my filter splits into three parts, the bottom bit containing the filter media. The problem is that the middle part which puts the latch across the the bottom filter section has now got stuck to it. So, i have the bottom and middle sections stuck together and cant access my filter media! The media is bunged up and needs cleaning! The filter is so weak now that the bubbles coming out of the top part have stopped all together through lack of suction.

I tried to push a bit of plastic through the middle parts latch to see if anything was trapped in with my media but i ended up puncturing a small plastic case filled with black bits, half of them have now fallen out!

So my problem, i cant access my filter media and i now have a plastic container above it spilling out black blobs! What do i do?

Can i get rid of the plastic part with black things in? Can i break through it to access my filter media?

Help!!!

hi, what type of filter is it?
i would probably buy a new one.

I think its time to get a new filter. When it arrives you can break apart the old one & use the mature media.

I have ordered one now, same type again. Hope it doesnt poison the fish before it comes! I think it was carbon poring out.

can you take it apart and
take some photos of it you do know
you can buy cartridges for this type of
filter i think you just need to google
the make and see if you can get sponges
and stuff for it

yeah the problem is i cant get into it as it seems to be stuck together, ive tried using screwdrivers and everything t try force it open, just not moving at all! i have the smaller version in my other tank and i can remove that so easily. Think i will start again then put the media in the new one, just hope it is all ok until then
