I got a bristlenose 2 day ago and its only about 1-2 inches long to clean up my 15gal tank, what I didint no was that it pooped so much as I've had to clean my tank 2 days in a row and the amount of poo is pathetic, but since it has nearly ate all the algea in my tank, will it stop pooping so much when I start only feeding it algea wafers and veg once a day. otherwise I do not think I will be able to keep it as am used to just cleaning my tank 1-2 a week not every day, any advice would be helpful thanks.

Mine used to poo like a herd of sheep. However every week I will weigh down a piece of cucumber for him, this has reduced his poo, I feed the fish every other day, and on the day I feed the fish I put a wafer down but broken in to pieces and dropped in different place. It has then become much better.

ok thanks, I'll see how it got goes over the next week our so as it hovering up the last majority of the algea in my tank now. so should I not feed it tomorrow then break up a wafer the next day and repeat that with a cucumber slice one day? thanks

One cucumber slice a week, leave it in for a day or two, remove it and bin it. Then every other day break the wafer up into pieces, small enough, but big enough for it still to stick. Over feeding fish = upset stomach and nasty and too much feces (poo). As ZoddyZod says, they are known to poo extensively, but they will in time eat there own poo (yummy)

They do indeed. Algae will settle and grow on it quick. Either that or every bristlenose i have had has been well trained.

also how long do you leave the wafers in for? as on the pack it says leave it it for 20mins, but after 20 mins mine had still not found it and it took it about 30mins befor it found it.
