A friend of mine may give me some Zebra fry. I was just curious as to whether they would try to mate with one another later on if they were kept in the same tank, and if so whether that would even be safe (I don't know what the effects of in-breeding in fish are but I assume they may not be good).
 
If you have both sexes they will breed. Inbreeding in fish isn't the same as in people, problems typically don't arise for many generations of inbreeding. In fact that's how they fix a strain of fish, is by breeding siblings, or parent to offspring.
