I got my new pair of bolivian rams today! :)
they're amazing looking, and are apparently male and female ... the larger male keeps chasing the supposed female around the tank, and larger male also has a yellow under belly? does this have anything to do with breeding, and if so any useful information or tips you can give me would be greatly aprecciated :) X

They sound like nice looking fish annaw123. I'm sure some of our cichlid enthusiasts will look in on you at some point (remember, they may be off on holiday trips etc.)

Who knows what the chasing is at this point. One day in a new tank is a little early to tell until they settle in. Thing with rams/cichlids to remember is that chasing is totally normal and can be a bit of aggression, love (breeding) or maybe even boredom or bad moods. If you wanted to promote spawning I would say keep up on your weekly water changes and provide caves and hiding spaces. My Bolivians seem to like to spawn in darker corners and caves and on smooth surfaces, a rock, etc.

Have fun with your new ones.

have fun and good luck. ive never had bolivians but i have been considering it for so long because of their colors and such
