My pair have spawned I got a lot of eggs only 4 turned white. The eggs hatched or it looks like the eggs grew tails. Mom and dad moved the fry to a new clean area. The 2 are great parents this is the 4 th time they spawned but this time I gave them their own 20 gal.

Now that the eggs hatched mom started to fight the dad. Dad would try and help put fry back but then mom would fight him off. They would lip lock dad never started it always crazy mom. Poor guy just wanted to help. The other times they always worked together. Dad would fight me off and other fish as mom tend to eggs. Could it be that being in their own tank with no others to fight off mom turned on dad.

Well I took poor dad out of the tank and left mom to deal with the eggs by her self. Anyone have that happen and did I do the right thing by spliting them up? How will it be when I add mom back to dad?

Not had it with angels, but the convicts I had to remove dad. Once the babies were fending for themselves and I moved them on to a grow out tank, I gave mum 2 weeks rest and then added dad back to her tank, she gave him what for, for a couple of hours but spawned again 2 days later.

Fingers crossed you get lots of babies.

I feel like a grandmother here at the other end of the lake. Pictures when you get a chance pls!!!!

P.S. Cool storm no?

Thanks I just hope mom and dad can get along once back together.

Haha karin I will post photo of them as soon as they look like more then a dot with a tail. I hope I learned my lesson last few times I raised fry. This is the true test of my skills. If all goes well I might get a breeding pair of discus next year. :look:

Yes there is so much snow we now have over 2 feet at the house. 6 feet at seirra and we got more last night. This store is Crazyness. I hope this winter is as good as last year because I was broken for most of last season. Have you been out yet?

I'm pretty snowed in with well over 3 feet of snow. They called a snow day at work. I can't get use my homewood/alpine pass until homewood opens, but I think Thursday I'm going to mt. rose for some fun. There is just too much here to do much in the backwoods by the house. Okay not a fish story. Have fun with your fry. You know after it all I either have two females or two males at work. It is okay as I don't want fry but I think their colors are a bit muted. Not certain how to progress, I really want the colors. I think I might have two females as one seems to be gravid with a thick breeding tube from time to time but nothing comes of it.

Ready for some photos.

This is when the first hatched about 24hr or so after being laid.
They looks like eggs with tiny tails.

Thanks I will post more as they grow. I think its fun to have a time line of the growth. I did this with my Cory fry too.

I will look forward to that, I always wanted to see how angels go from wiggly normal shaped babies to their adult shape.

AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHY! Thanks for sharing this little venture. Hard to believe that they will be angels one day.

Thanks guys. The fry are doing great I swear they grow more every hour. Today the eyes are bigger the egg sack is shrinking. They should be swimming in a few days. My mother Inlaw loves the fry. She had angels growing up and remembers them with fry. I love when my fish make others people happy.

I will get more photos tonight.

I have swimmers. Will post photos tonight. Mom is still in the tank and trying to keep babies on one side of the tank.

I lowered the flow in the tank and they can swim all over. I gave them baby brine shrimp. I will take mom out tomorrow. Mainly because there will be less mess with mom out. Because I do love to watch her with the babies.
