Ok so my HC Cuba failed but I'm not discouraged, well perhaps slightly. I'm going to pick up some "lilaeopsis brasiliensis" tomorrow from a lfs that had some on order for about 2 months and today, gave me a call today to say they have it in stock.

They have it on metal pads of about 5-5" in dimension and I'm wondering who here has experience with it. I've done research on this plant and have taken notes but the advice of those with experience is priceless.

ive had mine growing for about a month now, and im noticing its prone to algae.

oh and slow growing.

with liquid co2 and ferts

I had this in one of my old scapes and it took off well with good flow, C02 (Pressurised) and N and P dosing. It doesn't tend to do so well under low tech conditions.

I've got a pressurized setup running at one bubble per sec. I also have tpn (super grow) capsules so if it is a deep rooting plant I feel that this will do well. I'll post pics asap.

*Edit*

Any tips on planting?

What is N&P ??? Ianho, shame on you for using abbreviations us noobies dont know, LOL. Actually, is there any mileage for a pinned topic for "Glossary and Abbreviations" ???

If I had to guess it would be nitrate and phosphate?

I've got a niggling feeling that this plant may be something else? I'm not sure why as I'm never usually a pessimist but the lfs got it from a guy who also sell tropical plants via ebay and ebay is known for its scam artist. But anyways, the "progress" so far.

Thanks guys for the reassurance :good:

I've read that this is a slow grower but I've been having a conversation with a guy on theplantedtank and he thinks that in dirt most slow growers kick up a gear or two. I have a dirt substrate capped with thin gravel so it's going to be interesting to see if indeed it does grow at a faster rate than in gravel/sand. Fingers crossed.

IME it takes a while to settle in, but once it does, it throws out runners all over the place. Hope this takes for you :good:
