Hi everyone. I have a couple of blue dolphins, they were added to my tank together about a month ago. One is around 5 inches while the larger one about 6 inches. Up until a couple of days ago they just used to hang around the tank together fine. Watching them today the larger one is chasing the smaller one ( which has dark blotches which I have been told indicates a female?). This does not seem to be particularly agressive and they both sem to be chasing the other cichlids away when fish get too close to them. Again not really agressive, just a go away sort of thing. The larger one has been rubbing itself against the small one too.
Does anyone more knowledgable know if this is signifying any particular problem or not? If they were male and female does this sound like a mating ritual or something else? I'm not sure of their age, what age are they sexually mature? Any advice would be most welcome.
