Hi,

my misses bought some of that blue plastic sheet from my local fishshop to stick to the back of the tank to brighten it up a bit, however it just looks black.

Do you need to put some sort of lighting behind the tank or summit?

Thanks

Matt

No: if it looks black, it is black.. does it happen to be one of the double sided ones which is black on one side and blue on the other?

Yeah its blue on one side, black on the other.

Thanks for the reply.

Matt

you now have a difficult choice to make.....

blue or black....!

well i ( well the misses ) chose blue, however it looks black, very dark. i wonder if the black is coming through to the blue side.

Have you squeezed all the air from under it with a squeegy?

This is my method.
You will need,

A small paintbrush 1" is fine.
A car window scraper with the rubber squeegy atachment, I have read elswhere that a credit card works as well.
A cup.

First give the back of the tank a good clean so it hasnt got any "bits" stuck on it

Cut the backing to the EXACT size of the glass on the back of your tank.

Lay the backing on a clean, flat surface with the side you want to view facing up.

Fill the cup with a small amount of tapwater.

Spread some tapwater on the backing using the paintbrush, you dont need a lot just a very fine layer.

Place the backing on the tank & get it into position.

Use the squeegy or credit card to squeeze the air from between the backing & tank. You dont have to press too hard.

Look through the aquarium & remove any air that you have missed.

Enjoy your new backing.

I hope this was helpfull.

Remember that water wieghs a lot. 1kg per litre. I dont know how big your tank is but if you try to move it with too much weight in it you could break the aquarium. The best idea would be to get as much water as you can out whilst still leaving the fish with swimming space, move the tank, then quickly refill with dechlorinated-up to tempreature water.
Also be careful of your back when you move anything heavy.
