In my tank I have lots of black stuff covering a few ornaments I have plus all over my stones/pebbles. and I can also see it on the background picture of the tank. Anyone know what this is?

Thanx
Sue.

Yep most likely - welcome to the joys of fish keeping! lol

:)

Solutions:

Get a magnetic glass cleaner or get some algae eaters such as bristlenoses, Ottocinclus or SAE (Siamese Algae Eater)all of these good for your size tank. But you may also need to feed them other greens to supplement their diet.

Also, is your tank positioned in direct sunlight?

How big is your tank?(gallons) I have the very same algae. Try using a sponge pad that you put your hand in the water with. I think it is called black algae. It can get VERY annoying.(I'm sure you've had experience w/ that!) I wouldn't try the fish solution, but instead keep it under control yourself. The real secret every fishkeeper wants to know is that if YOU keep the algae under control on a weekly basis that It will have a hard time ttrying to re-appear. :D B) :alien:
