Iv had a black moor for a while now and every now and then it gets white dots on its fins and gills and then disappears eventually, only really seems to happen when I change the water, the fish always swims round and looks healthy and eats, just wondering what it could be, iv treated it for white spot before hand but doesn’t seem to help, could it be just an ageing thing?

I cant see any white dots but the fish is covered in excess mucous (creamy white film over its body). This is usually caused by poor water quality or something like chemicals in the water that is irritating the fish.

Check your water quality for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week. See if that helps.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

If there are spots, take some more pictures and find some that clearly show the issue and post them here.

The white dots on the fins are breeding tubercles. Means the fish is highly likely a male. But he IS also shedding slime, which isn't normal.
