THE BLACK FLUFFY,FURY ALGAE I HAD DID START TO GO WHEN I HAD ADVICE FROM HERE, DUE TO TO MUCH LIGHT, SO I CUT BACK MY HOURS OF LIGHT, AND NOW ITS BACK WITH A VENGENCE AND STARTING TO WIND ME UP, HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT ONCE AND FOR ALL????????? :*)

Sorry m8 its not easy to get rid of.

I've had it in my tank for months now - but its under control..... -_-

I use a split lighting period - min 4hr gap..

Check nitrates - notoriously high out the tap arround London - I also use nitrazorb for this...

Check for phosphates...

Get some fast growing plants - competes with the algae and uses up nitrates

Try some ottos or sae's - should help...

Few months ago I had a large piece of bogwood which was absolutly covered in it (too big to boil) so I stuck it on a radiator to completely dry out for a couple of weeks then took a nailbrush quickly over it. Don't know why but the algae hasn't touhed it since??? :/

hth

Thanks i will try anything but chemicals, are there any fish that thrive on it? i have 3 plecos, but dont see that much of them, but when i do they are growing. :sly:
