I'm breeding my black male betta today and I was wondering if I could get black and red butterfly's in a few generations time?
not really got into genetics before,
i just tend to go for my favorites and sell the rest
generally choose my fry by keeping the strongest ones but i'd like to try something different.

You male does have the defined bi-colouration of a butterfly. But I would think you would need a female of similar quality to achieve your goal. Also seeing as your male as Crowntail genetics in him.. you need to decided whether it's Crowntails or Veil tails that you want to have as your final prize

I'll make a new tail type too lol
Probably veil tails
Shall I breed my cambodian as well?
hmmmmmm...
have you ever seen a black and red butterfly?

Not a true red/black butterfly no :( but I swear I've seen a few on Aqua bid that were pretty damn close. Yes breed your cambodian

yay then i've got a challenge lol
ok i'll breed twilight too
i take it you want the cambodian fry?

It is possible, i have a red/black HM who you could say is BF style and i used to have a black and red crown, not quite BF type but could have been with the right female.

Blue_betta is also right you can get the demon type but that tends to be a black/red copper body with red fins going into black.

I say go for it as its not that common and they are lush. Make sure you post pics
