2 months after I brought in 4 SAEs to get rid of the total infestation of black beard algae in the tank, and lost almost all of my fish due to something nasty the SAEs brought with them, and then tore my tank apart, threw out all of the plants because they were covered with black and started over...

I feel for you player, good luck.
on have you tried hydrogen peroxide for killing it?

better at killing algae but not better for fish and other aquatic life.
the method is by use of a syringe, but I really suggest you research it fully before even atempting to use hydrogen peroxide

CAEs are quite aggressive, sure they didn't eat them?
They like slime coats and eyes :/

I reccommend to get Apple Sanils, Pomacea Bridgesii.
They rule, they eat DEAD plants, algae and old food.Their droppings are plant fertiliser, They are tough and remarkaly speedy. £2 each. SMITERS OF ALGAE

i had a lot of bba and found out it was because my nitrate level was sky high.
