cheech and chong both have rather swolen looking bums this morning . it looks almost like theres a really massive poo trying to come out . they are swiimng around happy enough , but their vents dont look right .

false alarm. as i type cheech is passing all be it slowly , the biggest fattest fish turd ive ever seen in my life . so big its stretching his vent. so is this what oscars o then? worry their owner and then go ha ha fooled you !!

yup dont worry mate they are proberly the hardiest fish you will ever know

this poo is literally like as round as a pea!!! guess thats what happens when youre a greedy git and swallow your food whole

The joy of Oscars, is that what goes in, will come out, almost identical to how it went in!! They are small, just you wait until they get bigger :hyper:

Also be aware that when you change anything in their tank, move wood, plants, do a water change, they will sulk and play dead and scare the poop outta ya  Funny things.

I read your going out to get them some pellets, highly recommend hikari cichlid gold or growth (floating) also tetra doromin is a firm favourite with all the Oscars Ive kept. Frozen pretty much anything, mussel, krill, brineshrimp, bloodworm, prawn etc, I used to defrost the cubes but as they get bigger, Ive found all mine LOVE to take the whole cube from frozen like a lolly, lord knows why it must freeze their mouths, but mine go nuts for frozen. And if your late with a meal, at their size, Id recommend 3 small meals a day, you will know about it, they learn quickly to jump up and rattle the lid, splash around to get your attention, mine seem to have an internal clock, I know if Im late with food as it sounds like the tank is breaking up with their attempts to remind me how starved they are

 minx . sounds like im gonna enjoy owning these boys !!

Feed little and often when they are small, I made that mistake with Chops because he was so thin when I fed him prawn for the first time, he got the belly ache, when it came out omg

yep thats how im feeding them, several smaller feeds a day . they had a couple of peas each for brekkie , an ive been out and got some hikari pellets , and some mealworms. they just had 1 each to see how they liked em , they went mental for them . and staying true to form tied to swallow em whole

Try as many different foods as possible, they can be funny devils, when Tigger first came to stay she wouldnt eat for me, Minxy came over and fed her and she ate straight away. The only way Tigger eats for me is if I say "tigger come and get it"

Oh yeah wait till the peas come out later

 these are without doubt already the coolest fish ive ever owned , and they are still tiny . god only knows what theyre gonna be like when they grow !

i feel a bit of a camera session comin on :hey:

we definitely won't mind a camera session!!! I would love to see pictures and I am sure others are dying for them as well!

i did do a thread last night thats got 3 half decent pics in , im just trying to get some better ones , but they wont play ball .

I used to feed mine lancefish and silver bullets came out the other end!!
