I recently came across 2 cu/ft of Wlim 4904 sinking bio media, (pond filter biomedia). I am soaking what I need in a diluted bleach mixture for a couple hours, then uber rinsing it and drying it in the sun. Anyone see any reason this won't be a good biomedia for aquarium

canister filters?

You have some gold standard media there, no problems using it. Seems similar to K1 media.

Hey :)
I know nothing about that. What is it made of/with ?

Doesn't seem enough porous to house beneficial bacterias.

I wondered that as well, but then thought of Bio Balls. They are also non porous.

I think that type of media is better suited for a trickle- wet/dry type sump. I would do something more porous in a canister like Seachem Matrix.

I always wondered how plastic can be considered as ""biological"" filter media.....
