I've had my mini bio-wheel ste up in my tank for about 7 months and i've recently noticed that the inner part of the sponge on the bio-wheel has turned red i this normal or should i just get some replacments sponges for it :/

I have this *huge* can of Tetra colour enhancing granules for large fish that I got dirt-cheap when my favourite lfs went out of business. In one of my tanks, there are at least six fish who love them, so I feed them pretty regularly. They definitely make my filter media turn red. Also, sometimes the bacteria/algae that grows in your filter can be kind of red. I'd say just rinse your media and you're good to go, but I'm sure others probably know something I don't on this one.
